Hundreds and even thousands of free items can be obtained online, but the trick is knowing where to find them. Items like free screen savers, free computers, free fonts, free games, free web hosting, free gift cards, free MP3 players, and much more can easily be obtained if you just know where to look.
STEPS
1. There are many sites that are entirely devoted to cataloging free stuff. Anyone of these are the best place to start your search.
2. Many sites are devoted to giving away high ticket items such as free iPods, free computers, and free game systems. There are so many of these sites out there that it can be difficult to determine which ones are legit. Here you will find an extensive list of free offer sites, ratings of the various sites, and a forum where you can discuss free offers with fellow freebie-hunters.
3. If you are looking for a particular free item and you just can't seem to find, then your next best option is to use a search engine. Enter the item you are looking for into the search box along with the word free. If you do not receive satisfactory results then you should enter the term + free, but this time enclose your search phrase within quotation marks. This will limit your results to specific instances of the phrase along with the word free.
WARNING!
* Only download software from reputable sources. If you can't find a free program on websites like SourceForge or Download.com, chances are you don't want it on computers. Websites loudly advertising "free screen savers" and the like are often there to put spyware and adware on your system, or to collect and sell e-mail addresses to spammers.
* If you're downloading software, make sure you have a decent, up-to-date antivirus program, and anti-ad/spyware programs. Use them! Some suggestions for free (to home users), regularly updating antivirus programs for Windows are ClamWin and AVG Free. Ad-Aware is a good place to start for anti-adware.
